2019 Atlantic City Air Show
The theme of the 2019 Atlantic City Air Show was ‘A Salute to Those who Serve”. The show was held on Wednesday August, 21st 2019. The show claims to be the largest midweek airshow in the nation.
This year the weather was good. The temperature was great in the upper 80’s around the show start time and it was a hair over 90 by the time the Thunderbirds finished the finale. I arrived in AC around 8am it was overcast and a clouds were ready to rain. Well, when I went to the beach the sky opened up with a torrential down pour for around 45 minutes and then it was all good. (Side note: I put $20 in a penny slot while it rained and I walked out $20 richer!). The weather did clear up though it was very hazy and as usual the light is horrible during the first half of the show.
I found my friends who normally go every year and hung out with them till the show got started. At 11:30 the U.S. Army Golden Knights got the events going with flags from Great Britain, POW MIA, US Army and of Course Old Glory being represented.
The show proceeded pretty well without large gaps in time between acts. The crowd really seemed to enjoy it all. Highlights to me were the Tri-colored smoke show the Red Arrows gave, an appearance by the B-52H, The GEICO Skytypers, Michael Wiskus and the Lucas Oil Air Show Pitts doing amazing prop job aerobatics, and of course the U.S. Air Force Thunderbirds. Looking forward to 2020, hoping to shoot the show from the Pier next year.
