2018 Atlantic City Air Show
I was invited to Atlantic City to watch the Atlantic City Air Show on 22 August 2018, by one of my cruising friends. She said to meet on the right side of the Caesar by “SHOW CENTER”. We were set up by 9 AM. I was there sitting comfortable having a few tasty beverage till the first event on the schedule started. The formal schedule was more of a guideline as some acts were removed and others were added or started at different time.
I had a ball shooting with my full frame Nikon D750, and Tamron 150mm-600mm G2 lens.
All Parachutist, and jet planes were shot on Aperture priority mode with a fast shutter Normally between 1/1000 to 1/2000 of a second depending on the aperture. The prop jobs and helicopters were shot in Speed priority mode with the shutter at 1/150 – 1/250th of a second. The reason why is so there is a little blur in the propeller or rotors blades which gives a pleasing look and and the impression of movement.
All in all, I was very pleased with the air show. There was a nice mix of civilian, military, and big name acts. The weather cooperated, it was hot with a good mix of sun and clouds. I am looking forward to 2019. I am hoping to do two days, (1 practice and the actual show) Till next year!
